A bit about us

There’s a tea towel you can buy from gift shops in the north-east. It’s called a Geordie Dish Cloot and has writing on it which ends with “Nivor Volunteor”

Sadly, I didn’t pay attention – I am that person who organises the xmas party, work’s night out, family reunion, local W.I……

I’m married to a saintly chap (!) called Matt and am recently bereaved of the best dog ever (see ‘what you’ve missed’). I would tell you what I do in my spare time but since starting this, I don’t have any. I tried to learn golf, now I just occasionally dust my golf clubs (not that I spend much time dusting). I’m not sure I'm an obvious candidate for the W.I. -  I don't bake but I do cook, and can often be found on the sofa, surrounded by a pile of cookery books (bit of a collection obsession).  I spend loads of time and money buying beautiful plants and then watching them die as I’m too bone idle to plant them. I can’t even sew a button on but if asked, I could show you how to darn a sock using a matchbox so I suppose there could be hope for me yet.

Hopefully will learn loads of new crafty-type skills in our fantastic new W.I.

Cheers!

Hi I'm Kate

I've lived in Keynsham for just over a year and know the area fairly well as my Mum used to have a shop here.

I live with my youngest son; George and my Black Labrador; Bertie.

I'm really looking forward to meeting lots of new people through Wings as I dont actually know many people in Keynsham, having not been here very long. Also think its going to be a great way to learn how to do things I wouldnt necessarily have thought of trying before. The speakers will give us a taster and then if we like the sound of their subject we can look into getting more involved.

I'm hoping to meet some lady golfers too as I took up the sport this year and I'm fed up with getting out shot and out scored by my other half, Scott, who has been playing for 20 odd years.

Look forward to meeting you

Kate

Hi I’m Sally. I live in Downend with my hubby Tony and our little Jack Russell Mabel. I am a true Bristolian and have never lived anywhere else but here.

I have been a friend and work colleague of Mandy’s for quite a long time, so, when she suggested that Keynsham was in need of a WI (New Generation) I thought it was a great idea and offered my assistance.

I am looking forward to this new adventure and hope to gain lots of new interests and meet lots of new friends.

I enjoy cooking, gardening, golf (beginners level!), and wine tasting with Mandy! Also enjoy a good boogie on the dance floor, again wine may be involved!

I'm Susan and have been living in the BANES/Bristol area for 24 years. I'm the yank of the group, grew up in Virginia, and have lived in England for nearly as long as I've lived in the States. That's giving away my age now. I have 2 children, last one just getting ready to leave the nest, and 2 cats; one with personality, one without. Had 3 but one went to live with our previous neighbours to be an only cat in the household. I am learning to garden, have been attempting golf for the past 2 years (Kate we must hit some balls!), play badminton (lost the stamina for squash), and don't cook as much as I used to but would love to have opportunities to do more. I work full-time and am longing for retirement-by the seaside in a warm climate, which won't happen for a while.

I've had great fun in the WI so far and am looking forward to making new friends and having lots of laughs.

Susan
